Allie Update
While many of you may be keeping up on Gable’s story (, some of you might remember last year’s transport and adoption of Alamo Allie (

We recently got an update on Allie from her mom and dad (Kathy and Jim) telling how well she is doing and what a wonderful addition to their family she has been!

Allie just loves her greyhound brother Ben, always having to be around him and often barks at him trying to get him to play with her! They get along wonderfully and really look out for each other.

She is also inseparable with Jim and Kathy’s daughter Angel and has been very happy that she is home from college for the summer. We have even have heard gossip that Allie enjoys lying on Angel’s bed while she gets ready in the mornings.

Allie remains very playful, stealing stuffed animals from anywhere and everywhere in the house and every morning races her brother Ben down the steps to the door, ready for their morning walk. She's a big snuggle bug too, cuddling with Angel every night after her night time walk!

Her health is excellent. She still gets drops in her eyes three times every day. She is really very good about getting her drops and her eye doctor says there has been a big improvement in her left eye. Although her right eye remains the same, it doesn’t seem to give her any discomfort.

All in all, it appears that Allie is just a happy, well adjusted, spoiled greyhound!

The Story of Lucky Florida Dog #2--- Gable
A journey from Sarasota, Florida to a new life.... the adventure continues.
Last year at this time, a Chicago LTI volunteer, Laura Reynolds Anderson left cold, windy Chicago to transport a clients' car back from Florida.

But, she didn’t just bring back a vehicle, she brought back a sweet greyhound named Allie who needed a forever home.

Laura worked in conjunction with one of
the local Florida adoption groups to obtain a greyhound. Once Allie was brought north, Laura and her husband, Steve, fostered Allie until she was adopted.

Leaving Tracks collaborated  with the local greyhound rescue group, GPA Wisconsin, throughout the process. If you would like to read about Allie’s journey north, please check out her blog at Lucky Florida Dog #1

This year, Laura and Steve have made another journey to Florida to bring back her clients' car in yet another lucky dog named Gable.

Leaving tracks is very happy to be partnering with American Greyhound for this year's journey.

Laura and Steve have been documenting the second trip on a new blog at Lucky Florida Dog #2.
This year it was our goal to bring back a black greyhound in order to raise awareness that black animals are often overlooked in shelters and harder to place. We also hope that the blog provides some insight of a greyhound’s journey from the track to a forever home.
Many thanks to Laura, Steve, American Greyhound, our Atlanta stopover hosts, LTI's generous supporters, and all the folks in Florida who  made this journey for Gable possible.

Allie's Journey Home
Allie has found her forever home!

Due to the collaborative efforts of Marilyn Varnberg of Greyhound Adoptions of Florida, GPA Wisconsin, two very special sponsors,  foster mom Laura Reynolds Anderson, and Leaving Tracks, this lucky Greyhound has started her new life filled with bountiful love, soft beds and gentle hands.
