A Stitch in Time....

A few months ago, I met with a school teacher who mentors the Harrison High School sewing club in Kennesaw, Georgia. The club volunteered to make dog donation coats for LTI.  We already had first-hand knowledge how great these coats for fundraising at meet and greets. It was a match made in heaven!

When I met Mary Ann Davis and the club, I spoke with the group about retired Greyhounds and how effective these jackets are for non-profit organizations to raise money. The club members were excited to tackle the project for Leaving Tracks. The volunteers had the opportunity to choose their own colors, select embroidery designs, and sew the jackets.

We would like to thank Mary Ann Davis and her dedicated group at Harrison High School for their time, enthusiasm and dedication.  They also donated most of the supplies and fabrics used in these wonderful coats.

As you can see from the pictures, these jackets will shine on any greyhound!  We are currently sending out the jackets to other rescue organizations to help raise those nickels, dimes and dollars to help out the Greyhounds!

Revolutions for Retired Racers
Leaving Tracks would like to thank Baley West for initiating this great project to help the retired Greyhounds. We asked Baley where she would like her proceeds to be donated. A check was sent to The Ohio State University’s Greyhound Health and Wellness Program on the behalf of Baley’s hard work.

A few thoughts from Baley:

I chose this for my International Baccalaureate project because I’ve always been involved in helping retired Greyhounds, but I have never been in charge of one of the events. For once I wanted to make a difference myself, with my actions.

As for the idea of selling bracelets, my volleyball team and I have a past time of making these string bracelets, which we all wear. Figuring that my volleyball team wears the bracelets, other people may wear them too.

As a result of selling the bracelets, I would donate the money towards Leaving Tracks, an organization that sends money to support Greyhound rescues all over the nation. Hopefully, we will donate enough money to truly make a difference.
